As the IPL 2025 mega auction approaches, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will start their hunt for their new captain for the upcoming IPL edition. RCB didn’t retain Faf du Plessis and now there is a high probability that they will be at the auction with the purpose of finding a new skipper. In a conversation with JioCinema, Uthappa said: "I think they (RCB) should look at Rajat Patidar to take over that role because it seems like you need a new leader after two years. So, you might as well do it now to get ahead of the curve and build a captain for the next three to five years. Rajat is one of those players who can actually play that role for them.” Earlier there were several speculations that former RCB captain Virat Kohli might take up the leadership role in the upcoming season. However, RCB's director of cricket, Mo Babat, has dismissed these rumors, stating that no decision has been made yet. Talking about Rajat Patidar then he has already established himself as a dynamic hitter in the middle overs. RCB retained him for INR 11 crore before the mega auction. With the remaining purse value of INR 83 crore, RCB will be looking to form a solid squad for the IPL 2025. The mega auction is all set to be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia this year on November 24 and 25.
