Pakistan’s cricket captain, Mohammad Rizwan, has become the latest victim of unnecessary mockery—not for his game, but for his English. A viral video shows TV presenter Tabish Hashmi mimicking Rizwan’s press conference responses while former cricketers Mohammad Amir, Ahmed Shehzad, and Rashid Latif laughed along. Hashmi criticized Rizwan’s way of speaking, suggesting that as the representative of 25 crore Pakistanis, he should speak “well” and “make sense.” Hearing the mimicry, the other panelist Ahmed Shehzad burst into laughter. In the video, he was heard saying, "He represents 25 crore people. We want our representative to speak well, look well, say sensible things, play fearless cricket with honesty. When I watch my captain Mohammad Rizwan in press conferences, I'm not saying he should speak in English. He can talk in Urdu but he should make some sense. What is this 'sometimes you win, or you learn. Sometimes it's cramp, sometimes it's acting." That's what happens when non cricket anchors suddenly become cricket experts during ICC events then they pull of stunts like this. Look at him mocking Rizwan's English and A Shehzad laughing in his usual moronic way. Shameful behaviour overall. pic.twitter.com/ou3aT2HBAW — Hassan (@Gotoxytop2) February 28, 2025 However, this is not the first time some South Asian cricketers have been trolled for stammering in English. When it comes to Pakistan, the list seems longer; special mention goes to Kamran Akmal and the former Pak captain Sarfaraz Ahmed. The irony? None of them claimed to be a pro in the language that doesn't even belong to their motherland. Yes, it is true that the team played ridiculously and has been kicked out within five days of them hosting the Champions Trophy, but how can a language justify someone's cricketing skill? After decades of having freedom, crying over fluency looks absurd when the guests should have carried translators with them. Even fans on social media felt blank after this, not knowing how to react! Rizwan Disappointed After Pakistan Exit Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan expressed disappointment after his team’s early exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. With their final group match against Bangladesh washed out, Pakistan finished last in Group A with just one point, following defeats to New Zealand and India. Rizwan admitted injuries to Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman disrupted team balance but refused to make excuses. He emphasized the need for improvements in Pakistan’s domestic structure, professionalism, and overall team awareness. “The expectations were high, but we didn’t perform well. We need to learn and improve,” he said, reflecting on the disappointing campaign.
