Rishabh Pant has been in the limelight after hitting twin centuries at Headingley, but his hardwork and discipline post-Border Gavaskar Test series deserve respect. In an interview with the Times of India, India's former strength and conditioning coach, Soham Desai, reflected on how Pant cut off social ties and spent odd hours in the gym to become a better version. In the interview, Desai said that coming back from Australia, Pant deleted his WhatsApp account and even switched off his phone for a prolonged time. He used to switch on only when he required to contact someone. Not only that, he overlooked fatigue and workload programs and dragged Desai to the gym everytime Pant had some free time. Desai said, "He did the most intense sessions day in and day out. He dragged me into the gym whenever he was free. He didn't care about fatigue or work-loaded programmes. All he said was he needed to keep working on himself. On the day of the final, he came to me with some kind of guilt in his mind and asked if he could take the day off. I said it was high time that he did." Desai added, "Pant has so much reserve that he will be fine for at least a year without having to do anything extraordinary. That's why you see him moving around so well despite scoring two hundreds and keeping wickets for so long in the Headingley Test." The journalist clarified that he was asking about Pant's workload and nothing much. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant did not have a great run in the BGT, until the Sydney Test, where he showed both grit and aggression. Notably, the second innings, a ramp shot taking his wicket had made Sunil Gavaskar call him "stupid," that became quite popular. Pant late missed the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 and has used the time for his betterment before coming to England. With the twin centuries, Pant rose to seventh position in the ICC Test Batting Rankings, his best so far.
