India is still now battling the aftermath of the disastrous Air India crash incident that happened on June 13. 275 innocent people lost their lives, including crew members and medical students residing in the hostel where the plane crashed. Sports fraternity throughout the world, be it hockey or cricket, across different levels acknowledged the tragedy and now India's recently appointed vice-captain in Tests, Rishabh Pant, did the same. In the pre-match press conference, Pant addressed the heartbreaking tragedy and vowed that the team would try their best on the field to bring smiles back to his countrymen. Rishabh said, "See, what happened in the aircraft—I think the whole of India were saddened, disheartened. At the same time, the only thing from our side is, we are going to be sticking to them how we can make India happy again. Obviously, emotions are going to be high because of what happened in the crash. But at the same time, we want to put our best foot forward for the country." The ceremony, initially set for June 14, has been deferred as a mark of respect, especially considering that British nationals were among the victims of the ill-fated London-bound flight.
