Rishabh Pant is determined to back his players in the upcoming IPL 2025. As Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) newly appointed skipper, he is set to build a team culture where every player feels supported. Known for his fearless batting and aggressive mindset, Pant wants his leadership to reflect the same confidence. Pant was a marquee signing for LSG, securing a staggering ₹27 crore deal at the IPL 2025 mega-auction. His decision to part ways with Delhi Capitals (DC) raised eyebrows, but LSG saw him as the ideal captain to spearhead their campaign. Now, the dynamic wicketkeeper-batter has a clear vision—foster an environment where players express themselves freely. In a recent pre-season huddle, Pant addressed his squad, emphasizing the importance of team spirit. He stressed that success isn't just about individual brilliance but collective effort. In a video shared by LSG on social media, Pant stated, "We want to create a place where people can come and express themselves. It is just a very simple idea. It is easier to say than to do it because it requires a lot of effort from each and every individual. It is not just the management; I think it is because of the players we can create that environment." He urged senior players to step up and mentor the younger lot. Nicholas Pooran, Aiden Markram, and David Miller are among the experienced heads in the squad, and Pant expects them to share their insights. He added, "I feel there is a lot of experience in the group. I think management has a lot of experience. We have a lot of senior players, Nikky P (Nicholas Pooran) is there, (Aiden) Makram is there, (David) Miller is there. I think a lot more are there. Just keep sharing your experience with the younger guys and let that experience flow in this group. I think that is something we can learn a lot from all the senior guys. And just take it forward one day at a time, just giving your 100 per cent, keeping the best interest of the team without even thinking that our team will back you or not." LSG endured a disappointing IPL 2024, finishing seventh in the standings. Missing out on the playoffs for the first time, the franchise is banking on Pant’s leadership to turn things around. His aggressive style, combined with a calm approach off the field, makes him a natural leader. With IPL 2025 around the corner, Pant is set to prove his mettle. His ability to instill confidence in his players might just be the game-changer LSG needs to chase their maiden title.
