India’s Test vice-captain Rishabh Pant has quietly paid ₹40,000 to fund the college fee of a financially distressed student from Karnataka’s Bagalkot district. The cricketer intervened after a request reached him via a network of well-wishers from Rabkavi village, enabling 18-year-old Jyoti Kanabur Math to secure her BCA admission. Jyoti, who hails from a humble household in Bilagi taluk, had scored 85% in her PUC exam. She gained admission to Bijapur Lingayat Education (BLE) Society’s college in Jamkhandi. But her father, Teerthayya Kanabur Math, a daily wage earner, found the fee beyond reach. The family sought help from Anil, a known figure in their locality. Anil contacted his friend Akshay Naik in Bengaluru. The appeal eventually reached Rishabh Pant, who wasted no time. He transferred the full ₹40,000 college fee directly to the institute, bypassing formalities or publicity. I completed my SSLC and PUC from Belagavi and wanted to pursue BCA. Due to financial problems, my parents approached Anil... Anil then contacted his friend Akshay, who lives in Bangalore. Akshay brought my situation to the attention of Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant. Rishabh Pant transferred 40,000 so that I could pursue my BCA. I am very thankful to Rishabh Pant and pray to God to bless him with good health." Jyoti also expressed her intent to give back: “After becoming a software engineer, I will also help poor children.” However, Rishabh Pant has not commented publicly on the act.
