The Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is unlikely to miss a Test series due to injury. Pant, who is currently recovering from a foot injury, is expected to come back at least during the Australia ODI series this October if the West Indies Test series looks impossible. A report from Cricbuzz said that Rishabh Pant is actually expecting to be on the turf during the two-match Test series against the West Indies in Ahmedabad and Delhi, respectively. The report says, “Pant is targeting India’s next home series against the West Indies in October for his comeback, and if that does not happen, the white-ball series against Australia in October-November seems a realistic possibility." Following the West Indies Test series, the Indian team will be touring Australia for a white ball series, featuring three ODIs and 5 T20Is, from October 19 to November 2. However, Rishabh Pant is not being considered as the first-choice keeper in either of the white-ball formats. With Shubman Gill coming in at the helm, India might wait to actually find a better keeper in the T20I format, as Sanju Samson seemed to had settled the case. However, with the ODI format, India is unlikely to shuffle with KL Rahul. In that case, Rishabh might have to wait for the South Africa Test series at home starting mid-November. Rishabh Pant, who played the first four Test matches in the Anderson Tendulkar Series, suffered from a foot injury trying to reverse sweep a quicky from Chris Woakes in the first innings at Manchester. His toe got swollen, and Rishabh was seen struggling badly to even land the foot. He was thereafter taken to scans. Later, after Shardul Thakur's dismissal, Pant showed extreme courage and limped on the field to score a gritty half century for India. Even though he didn't require any operation, the medical board predicted a six-week recovery time for him to come fully fit on the field. For the injury, Rishabh wasn't even available for the 2025 Asia Cup selection.
