In a shocking disclosure that has sent shockwaves in Indian cricket, Team India batter and Asia Cup 2025 champion Rinku Singh has been threatened by the underworld, as has been verified by the Mumbai Crime Branch. The D-Company, headed by the notorious and fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim, made several ransom demands to the promotional team of Rinku earlier this year, reported sources. Between February and April 2025, Rinku's group allegedly received three ransom calls asking for INR 5 crore. The police have already made significant headway in the investigation by arresting two suspects, Mohammed Dilshad and Mohammed Naveed, from the Caribbean. Both of them were taken into Indian custody on August 1 for further questioning. In the course of interrogation, one of the suspects confessed to have made a ransom call himself to Rinku Singh, according to a report by TV9. Mumbai Police confirmed that both of the accused are associated with Dawood Ibrahim's D-Company, an outfit notorious for extortion and organized crime. The police are investigating the case further and are inquiring if more people are involved.
