The young Indian cricketer, Rinku Singh, recently raised his personal milestone high when he earned an impressive retention price for himself by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) of a whopping sum of Rs 13 crore. Post retention, the cricketer bought himself a lavish bungalow in his hometown of Aligarh. The image of Rinku being handed the keys to his new house, surrounded by his family, has been doing the rounds on social media, symbolizing his rise from humble beginnings to IPL success. He was bought by KKR back in 2018 when his base price was just Rs 50 lakh. His initial years with the franchise did not really see him playing much. But 2023 was a different story, where he had transformed himself into a good reliable finisher for KKR, always staying cool in tricky situations. Explained IPL 2023 - A Breakout Season for Rinku Singh The 2023 season saw Rinku break open. He scored a total of 474 runs from 14 innings with a strike rate of 149.52 and an average of 59.25. He scored four half-centuries during this season. He gained fame for his five consecutive sixes from Gujarat Titans's bowler Yash Dayal, which turned the match in favor of KKR at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Even though he is retained as the primary pick by KKR, he is not an exclusive one. Major players like Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell are all retained at a price of Rs 12 crore each, while Ramandeep Singh has been retained at Rs 4 crores. Out of this lot, Rinku stands the highest in the pocket among others since his worth has begun to grow higher. Apart from his impressive IPL career, Rinku has also been in good form for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket. It was his good form that made him bag a ticket for India's tour of Ireland, wherein he made an international debut, though very narrowly he missed a chance to be a part of India's T20 World Cup squad. The last season of IPL was below par for Rinku Singh, but KKR has showed faith in him.
