Australian cricket icon Ricky Ponting will be head coach of Punjab Kings. He replaced Trevor Bayliss. Ponting, who was once Australian captain, will join Punjab Kings after seven years in Delhi Capitals as a coach. Under his tenure, the team performed really well but could never win the IPL, though they reached the final in 2020. Before becoming head coach of Delhi, he was the coach for Mumbai Indians also. An IPL source told to PTI that: "Ponting signed the contract yesterday and it is for four years. He will need that much time to build the squad. Ponting will take a call on the rest of the support staff."
