India's Women's World Cup-winning cricketer, Richa Ghosh, was honored with a stunning gold-plated bat and ball, along with a cheque for INR 34 lakh representing every run she scored during the tournament where the Women in Blue triumphed. The event took place at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, with West Bengal's Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, in attendance to celebrate this remarkable achievement. Mamata presented Richa with the prestigious Banga Bhushan award and a gold chain, recognizing her outstanding contributions to cricket. At just 22 years old, Richa has also been appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the state's law enforcement. The event was graced by former Indian captains Sourav Ganguly and Jhulan Goswami. Ganguly, who is the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), commended Richa's dynamic batting style, while Jhulan, who played a key role in bringing Richa into the national team, emphasized the importance of nurturing more talented female cricketers like her. “Richa’s role at No.6 is difficult. She has to score rapidly in lesser number of deliveries. Her strike rate is the difference between India scoring 265 and 325,” “We should capitalise on this moment to produce many more Richas,” mentioned Jhulan. Also Read | Sanju Samson to Join CSK?
