After Anshul Khamboj was asked to return back to India, letting Harshit Rana stay with the India team, there was a huge fuss, sparking head coach Gautam Gambhir's partiality towards his KKR disciple. However, Rana was sent back right after the first Test. Gambhir reasoned that management feared injury issues, which was however resolved and asked Rana to take the return flight. Well, with Arshdeep Singh being injured, Anshul Khamboj is likely to be added to the India squad for the Manchester Test. As per a report from Indian Express, Anshul Khamboj has been asked to join the team before the fourth Test scheduled on July 23 at Old Trafford, Manchester. India has to win the Test in order to survive in the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Test series. A source close to BCCI told the Indian Express that Arshdeep Singh suffered a serious injury to his bowling hand while training on Thursday. Arshdeep got a deep cut in his finger that required stitches, and it will take at least 10 days to be completely fit. Quite naturally, he has been ruled out from the Anderson-Tendulkar Series. The source said, “Arshdeep has a deep cut and has had stitches; he will take at least 10 days to get completely fit. The selectors have decided to add Kamboj in the squad." Earlier, India's assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate said: "Arshdeep took a ball while he was bowling there, Sai hit a ball, and he tried to stop it, and it’s just a cut. So we have to see how bad the cut is. The medical team have taken him off to see a doctor, and, if he needs stitches or doesn’t need stitches, it’s going to be important to our planning for the next few days."
