Youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's dream run continued in the Indian Premier League 2026 as his scintillating 43-run knock propelled Rajasthan Royals to a six wicket win against Punjab Kings in a high scoring encounter on Tuesday. Chasing a mammoth total of 223, the 15-year-old opener continued to display his audacious style of batting giving the Royals a brisk start to their chase with his 16-ball 43. Rajasthan chased down the target with four balls to spare, inflicting the first defeat of the season on Punjab. Sooryavanshi started off from the word go and took on the onus of scoring against Arshdeep Singh hitting him for a six and two fours at the start. Later the young opener took on Lockie Ferguson and smashed him for two sixes. Although he was eventually caught by Arshdeep off a mis-hit, by then the damage was done. The youngster also reached his 400-run mark in just 9 innings this season becoming the highest run-scorer of IPL 2026. The milestone came in just 167 balls breaching Andre Russell's previous record of 2019 by 21 balls. Jaiswal, Ferreira finish the job After the fall of Sooryavanshi's wicket Yashasvi Jaiswal kept the tempo of the chase with a brilliant 51 off 27 deliveries and lauded his young partner. Jaiswal said: "I really enjoyed batting with him and he's playing amazing. I'm always happy seeing from the other end, the way he's hitting the ball." Despite the massive total Punjab's bowlers could not defend their score. Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer expressed his disappointment after the match he stated: "This is the format where I feel that a lot of players have changed their game and when they come in they go bang from ball one, So it's an arduous task for bowlers to come with a certain plan. But at the end of the day, I feel it's all about execution. And today it just wasn't our day." With this victory Rajasthan Royals strengthen their position in the IPL 2026 table, while Punjab Kings face their first defeat in the competition.
