Royal Challengers Bengaluru had recently launched their Hindi account on X (formerly Twitter), which triggered language sentiments among pro-Kannada fans. The social media account named RCBinHindi was initiated on October 28 and had just five tweets in it. In a month, they have collected some 2,500 followers. The Bangalore-based IPL team has received enough criticism for launching a Hindi-based social media account, with some pro-Kannada groups and fans initiating online petitions to take it down. However, the auction saw RCB make unexpected moves, expecially like not retaining key players. On Day 1, they delayed several bids but started with a shock purchase of Liam Livingstone for INR 8.75 crore. Despite having 3 Right to Match (RTM) cards left, they didn’t use those players like Mohammed Siraj and Faf du Plessis. RCB then entered a bidding war with KKR, acquiring English wicketkeeper-batter Phillip Salt for INR 11.50 crore. They later added Jitesh Sharma for ₹11 crore and signed Josh Hazlewood, their most expensive player, for ₹12.50 crore. Additionally, they picked up the KKR prodigy Suyash Sharma for INR 2.6 crore and Rasikh Dar for INR 6 crore, while using RTM to keep spinner Swapnil Singh for ₹50 lakh.
