Coming out after a long injury break, Jasprit Bumrah probably comes before the IPL 2025. But do this at your peril and underestimate him. The experienced batting line-up of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) knows pretty well not to take the world's best bowler lightly. They will not shake their focus due to what Boomar has achieved. Bumrah has been out after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he took 32 wickets in just 5 Tests. Fit and now ready to take the field for Mumbai Indians (MI) against RCB at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, fans have already started buzzing about the key match-ups. Well, Bumrah at 31 has a staggering record against RCB, having taken 29 wickets in 19 matches at an average of 19.03. In their last encounter at the Wankhede in 2024, he hammered the RCB side by virtue of bowling figures of 5 for 21. Ahead of the match, Tim David of RCB stated in jest that Salt and Kohli were looking to attack Bumrah right from ball one. That's easier said than done. Bumrah sees RCB getting worst hurt, especially in the first Powerplay. In 17 different spells across the Powerplay, he has given away only 17 fours and two sixes at an impressive economy of 6.25, clearly indicating how difficult it is to face him with the new ball. Also Read: 'I could not digest': Mohammed Siraj on Champions Trophy snub David relaxed about Bumrah's threat and even joked that he would shift his toes if Bumrah bowled one of his famous yorkers. David commented: “I’ll just try and get my toes out of the way, he’s got a pretty lethal yorker. He’s a brilliant bowler and when you put in big performances against the best teams, against the best players, they’re the best feelings you get as a player. So you want to be challenged by the best and I’m looking forward to that.” However, Tim David certainly has the right credentials to back his big talk. Although not an opener, he has been the most destructive six-hitter in death overs situations in the past three IPL seasons. He leads the pack with sixes struck in overs 17 to 20 with 31 sixes, ahead of greats MS Dhoni (27) and Rinku Singh (26). But the bulk of the pressure is on the openers against MI: Salt and Kohli must get the better of Bumrah early. Good luck to them!
