Nikhil Sosale, the Marketing Head of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, has been arrested at the Bengaluru International Airport and has been brought to the Cubbon Park Police Station for questioning regarding the stampede case on June 4 in the RCB victory parade. Sosale was reportedly fleeing back to Mumbai. Apart from Sosale, three other management staff from the DNA Even Management group were detained at the airport. As per the investigation, it was Sosale who promoted the victory parade despite not having police permission. Not only that, the DNA staff informed that Sosale instructed them to post the announcement anyhow on RCB's social media. RCB posted detailed information about ticket distribution, but the post was deleted later. According to the post, free passes were supposed to be distributed from 1 pm at gate numbers 9 and 10. Seeing that, the fans started to gather, leading to overcrowding. The official handle of RCB also posted that the event will commence at 3 pm, which made the crowd go gaga over it. According to police sources three lakh people accumulated at the venue, but only three of the 21 gates were opened, leading to a massive rush. The deadly stampede that broke out, claiming 11 lives, occurred outside the stadium on Wednesday when an estimated crowd of nearly 3 lakh gathered to witness Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL victory celebration. The situation spiraled out of control due to inadequate arrangements and restricted entry points, resulting in mass confusion and tragic loss of lives.
