Jacob Bethell's cricket career has made a giant leap as he is appointed as captain of England's T20I side for the upcoming series against Ireland. Bethell will be the youngest men's captain in England history at the age of 21, surpassing Monty Bowden's mark of 23 years and 144 days when he was made captain in 1889 for a Test match against South Africa. Record-Breaking Moment for Bethell Bethell will captain the team for three T20Is in Malahide, replacing Harry Brook, who is rested along with Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse, Ben Duckett, and Jamie Smith in order to manage their workload. England selector Luke Wright was impressed with the young all-rounder and said: "Jacob Bethell has impressed with his leadership qualities ever since he has been with the England squads and the series against Ireland will provide him with the opportunity to further develop those skills on the international stage."
