Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) headed into the IPL 2025 mega auction with the second-highest auction purse, 83 crore. Earlier before the auction, they had only retained three key players: Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal. Moving into the auction, RCB scrambled from the beginning. On Day 1, they made some shocking bids, whereas they took some extra time to make other bids or hadn't made one. They didn’t even use their RTM, even after having 3 left in their purse, on their key players including Mohammed Siraj and Faf du Plessis. After playing the bidding war with KKR for hours, they acquired the services of English wicketkeeper-batter Phillip Salt for INR 11.50. RCB went on to start a bidding war for the former wicketkeeper-batter, Jitesh Sharma, they acquired him for INR 11 crore. They were sorted with their bowling plans, and as they eyed the Australian bowler Josh Hazlewood, they started bidding immediately and went on a war for him. They finally acquired him for INR 12.50, their most expensive player from the auction. They also signed some underrated domestic talents including Suyash Sharma for INR 2.6 crore and Rasikh Dar for INR 6 crore. They used RTM on their key spinner Swapnil Singh and acquired him for INR 50 lakh.
