Chaos erupted as the Karnataka government and the State Cricket Association pointed fingers at each other. Police had warned of heavy weekday traffic and insufficient security at Vidhan Soudha, but RCB went ahead with the ceremony. Free tickets drew an unexpected crowd, leaving real ticket holders stranded outside Chinnaswami Stadium. RCB reasoned that few players had to leave early due to scheduling pressures. and a delay in the procession would have curbed the glamour. However, the government filed an FIR, leading to arrests of some RCB event staff. RCB later announced ₹10 lakh compensation for each of the deceased.
