The Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja revealed that he was not communicated to from BCCI's side about him getting the vice captaincy. Notably, due to RIshabh Pant not playing due to injury, Jadeja was made the deputy of Shubman Gill in the two-match Test series against West Indies. After Day 1's play at Ahmedabad, he revealed that he was not informed about his role. However, he is happy with the respect and trust he got from his team. The 36- year-old said, "They gave me the respect. The captain, the coach, and the management have decided to give me the responsibility. Whenever the team needs anything regarding team planning or whatever, I am always happy to contribute." He added, "They didn't say anything to me. I just saw VC written next to my name when the team was announced. At the end of the day, whatever experience you have to share, you do it for the team." He scored 516 runs, the fourth highest in the series, including 1 century and 5 half centuries. With the ball, he was pretty handy checking run rates and took 7 wickets playing all five Tests. Ravindra Jadeja further said, "As a player, I gain my confidence. Whenever you perform in England, you get that confidence. Hopefully, I can continue and take forward that confidence into this series, score some runs and some wickets." In the ongoing India vs West Indies Test, Jadeja could not manage a single wicket. He bowled three overs giving 15 runs. Notably, Mohammed Siraj starred the day with four wickets, giving 40 runs in 14 overs. The West Indies were bundled out for 162 runs. Jasprit Bumrah took 3 wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav took two. Washington Sundar managed to bag just one. Meanwhile, India is already leading the chase by 38 runs.
