Veteran Saurashtra all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will be playing in Saurashtra's Ranji Trophy game against Madhya Pradesh on October 25 in Rajkot. The 36-year-old has been included in Saurashtra's team as he is trying to remain match-fit for India's forthcoming Test series against South Africa. Jadeja was left out of selection for the Australia tour in ODIs but has been in great form in red-ball cricket. He played valuable runs in England and also registered a century in the recently completed Test series against the West Indies. Playing in the Ranji match indicates his interest in staying in form and fit ahead of two massive Test matches against the Proteas. Cricbuzz confirmed Jadeja's inclusion in a report. According to a Saurashtra Cricket Association official, "He is going to play the next match." His return will be a huge lift for Saurashtra, as his experience and all-round capabilities can bring a huge change in the team's performance. His work with both bat and ball has been instrumental in taking the team to victory in difficult situations. Facing a strong Madhya Pradesh team will be a good test for him before he rejoins the national team. Madhya Pradesh, with their in-form player Rajat Patidar at the helm, are on the back of a good show in their previous match, with Patidar scoring a double century. Saurashtra, on the other hand, had achieved a first-innings lead against Karnataka in their very first game. Jadeja's inclusion will bring balance, as well as confidence, to Saurashtra's line-up. This move also aligns with the BCCI’s new policy that encourages international players to participate in domestic cricket whenever possible. It not only helps them stay in rhythm but also strengthens India’s domestic structure.
