Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is set to represent Saurashtra on January 23 against Delhi in Rajkot. On January 23, Ravindra Jadeja was spotted to practice in the nets for Saurashtra. Saurashtra Cricket Association president Jaydev Shah told PTI on Sunday, "Jadeja has turned up for training today. He will play the next match." Following the batting massacre in Australia, BCCI reportedly has made participation in domestic cricket a mandatory norm. Cricketers who regularly play Test cricket should especially attend the Ranji Trophy matches. However, unlike most of the regular Test players, Jadeja had featured in the domestic in 2023 as per previous BCCI rules. BCCI earlier mandated that a player must play domestics after an injury and rehab session before breaking into the national team. Notably, Jadeja will face Delhi, where Rishabh Pant and Harshit Rana will be playing. Rishabh Pant too joined the net session for Delhi at Rajkot, however, has denied captaincy. Thus, Ayush Badoni will lead the team. However, on Saturday, January 18, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar denied claims of dragging batters to the domestics for staying out of form. He clarified that they must play to strengthen the domestic structure. In the press conference, he said, "I don't think it's a diktat. It's one of the things that BCCI has obviously put forward. But as I said, I mean, as selectors, we expect people, when they're available, to play because that can only strengthen our domestic structure. Not just for their form or their fitness and playing cricket, but it can only strengthen our domestic structure. So, when the time permits, we expect everyone to play."
