Ravichandran Ashwin is all geared up for a rare double stint in foreign leagues. The experienced Indian bowler has signed up for the ILT20 auction and will also likely feature in the Big Bash League (BBL) this year. Ashwin Confirms ILT20 Entry Ashwin, who had retired from the IPL in August, can now play overseas leagues. This provision holds good for players not engaged in Indian tournaments under the BCCI. He has been in discussions with ILT20 organizers for quite a while and has finally registered for the October 1 auction. Since all six ILT20 franchises have already done their direct signings, Ashwin was forced to go into the auction pool. Inching closer to the development, he stated, "I have registered for the auction. Hopefully, one of the six franchises will be interested in bidding for me" ILT20 season 4 will start from December 2 and will continue till January 4. The two Sydney franchises, Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder, are eager to secure his services, along with Hobart Hurricanes, led by Ricky Ponting, and Adelaide Strikers, with former skipper Tim Paine having a role in the setup. The BBL begins on December 14 and concludes on January 25, so there will be some overlap with the ILT20. Ashwin is planned to start his stay in the UAE before joining Australia, although he will have limited availability this season. While Ashwin has not commented publicly on the BBL opportunities, it is reported that an agreement with one of the four franchises is imminent. Potential Future Overseas Leagues Ashwin is also set to pursue other global T20 prospects. He will likely play in either Major League Cricket (MLC) in the USA or The Hundred in the UK in the future, though negotiations are in their infancy. Ashwin's successive overseas tours are the indicator of a new phase in his career, making him one of the select few Indian cricketers to play several international leagues during the same season.
