He jocularly referred to the group of players dismissed without scoring as a "duck party" when the scorecard was shown on the screen. Shastri's comments quickly found its way on the social networks and brought laughter among fans who were shocked by India's dismal outing. Shastri said: "When you see that scorecard, you think there will be a duck party happening there. Five ducks!" When the camera focused on Kohli, Sarfaraz and Rahul stand in the slips during New Zealand's batting Shastri mentioned the duck topic one more time, and it became one more light-hearted criticism of players' performances in that match. All three standing in slips, all out for ducks." Indian captain Rohit Sharma told the media in the post-day press conference that he misjudged the pitch conditions. That had made his team perform poorly. He confessed his failure to handle the situation effectively by leading his team. Rohit, during the press meet, said: "I am hurting a little bit because I made that call. We found ourselves in a situation where we got bowled out for 46 runs. As a captain, it definitely hurts to see that number. "So, clearly a misjudgment of the pitch. I did not read the pitch well enough and we sit in this situation. Though in 365 days, you will make two or three bad calls. That is absolutely fine, I guess."
