Afghanistan premier spinner Rashid Khan has dropped the tag of Lahore Qalandars (A franchise in Pakistan Super League) from his social media bio which has sparked speculations. This action came after a lethal Pakistani airstrike in Paktika that has been reported to have killed dozens of Afghan civilians, including three local cricketers. The attack has brought outrage all over Afghanistan, prompting a bitter outburst from the cricket world. Rashid, who has been representing Afghanistan in the international arena and Lahore Qalandars of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) since 2020, was left in grief and anguish about the disaster. Rashid Khan Condemns Airstrike, Calls It 'Barbaric' Rashid Khan went to social media to denounce the attack, calling it "barbaric" and unfair. In his release, he called on international authorities to take note of the incident, averring such acts should not pass without being recognized. Expressing solidarity with the victims and their families, Rashid reportedly said: "The incident is unjust and heartbreaking. Innocent lives should never be the cost of conflict." In a gesture that seems symbolic in nature, the 26-year-old deleted all references to his PSL franchise, Lahore Qalandars, from his profile. This has sparked rumors that Rashid Khan could skip the coming PSL season as a protest against the moves of Pakistan. Rashid has been a part of Lahore Qalandars ever since he joined them in 2020, claiming three PSL titles for the team. With political and military tensions between the two nations increasing, though, his future appearances in the league are also questionable. The tournament was to be hosted in Lahore and Rawalpindi from November 17 to November 20. A senior ACB official confirmed Afghanistan won't head to Pakistan due to security reasons and the prevailing political situation. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to put out an official statement or ascertain whether the tri-series will continue with a replacement team.
