In the latest development, Afghanistan’s spin maestro Rashid Khan is all set for a Test comeback for the upcoming two-match Test series against Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe Cricket Board announced on Tuesday that the Chevrons are set to host Afghanistan in December-January, with a lineup featuring two Test matches, alongside three ODIs and T20Is. The white-ball series will be played in Harare. Marking his return to Test cricket after three years, Rashid Khan is expected to wear the whites for Afghanistan once again. His last appearance in the format was back in March 2021, also against Zimbabwe. Rashid, who had been sidelined from red-ball cricket on medical advice due to a back injury, missed the previous Test series against New Zealand. In a conversation with Cricbuzz, Naseeb Khan said: "We are confident that Rashid will play for us in the Test series against Zimbabwe. He (Rashid) had a long recovery due to his back surgery and we wanted him to recover fully before taking the load of playing Test cricket. Now he looks fine and ready to feature for us in Test cricket." Rashid has represented Afghanistan in five Test matches so far, claiming 34 wickets at an impressive average of 22.35. He has already notched up four five-wicket hauls, with his best performance being a remarkable 7/137 against Zimbabwe in Abu Dhabi during his most recent Test outing.
