Afghanistan's talismanic wrist spinner Rashid Khan became the first bowler to reach 650 wickets in T20 cricket during the first match of the The Hundred 2025. Rashid performed the feat during the one-sided battle between Oval Invincibles and London Spirit at the historic Lord's Cricket Ground in London on Tuesday, August 5. London Spirit, led by Kane Williamson, won the toss and decided to bat first. Jordan Clark and Jason Behrendorff started early with the new ball and had the batting team reeling at 26/3 before Rashid started his magic. The 26-year-old began the rampage by sending Wayne Madsen packing with the 43rd ball of the innings. But he wrote the record books when he sent Liam Dawson crashing in front of the stumps LBW. Rashid also picked the scalp of Ryan Higgins to end on fine figures of 3/11 off 20 balls. He bowled an incredible 15 dot balls in his spell. The Afghanistan leg-spinner achieved the record as the first player as now he has 651 wickets in T20 cricket from 478 innings at the average of 18.54 with four five-wicket hauls to his credit. In the shortest form of the game, Rashid has a strike rate of 16.90 and an economy rate of 6.57.
