Amidst security concerns due to the upcoming Ramnavami, BCCI has decided to shift the match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Supergiants. However, unlike last year, there will be no change in the date, and it will be played on April 6. Earlier, Kolkata Police stated that, providing adequate security for the high-profile match will be beyond possible, as it is clashing with Ram Navami. Even though Ram Navami is not as popular as other festivals in Bengal, in recent days, it has been a most followed trend in different corners of the city. And that, it is not always a peaceful procession conducted; providing security over there is actually a big headache. In such a situation, KP expressed their concern. However, the Eden Gardens management tried their best to keep it to them, citing the match will be wrapped up by 7 in the afternoon. But unfortunately, the match got shifted. Meanwhile, Guwahati has received an initial hosting right for two matches featuring the Rajasthan Royals. One of the two matches is against the Kolkata Knight Riders scheduled for March 26. Last year, the match against the Rajasthan Royals was rescheduled from April 17 to 16 after the Kolkata Police came up with a similar request. And then, two other matches were rescheduled to ease one change in the schedule. Meanwhile, with the recent update, Guwalhati is set to host one more match this season. The IPL 2025 schedule includes 74 matches across 13 venues, featuring the 10 home grounds of franchise teams along with Guwahati, Dharamsala, and Visakhapatnam. Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders will kick off their title defense at the historic Eden Gardens on Saturday, facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru. However, rain could pose a challenge for the season opener, which will be preceded by a grand opening ceremony.
