The cash-rich Indian Premier League is all set to start on March 22; however, the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants on April 6 in Kolkata is facing security dilemmas due to Ram Navami processions. Meanwhile, Kolkata's Eden Gardens will witness the opening match on 22nd between KKR and their archrival Royal Challengers Bengaluru. According to the sources of the Cricket Association of Bengal, Lalbajar Police has expressed concerns if they can actually provide enough security to conduct the match between KKR and LSG. Generally, several processions are conducted in different parts of the city for Ram Navami, and police forces will be deployed there in number after the safety of the commoners. Notably, the Ram Navami processions have always not been peaceful ones, and several instances of rage have been seen in the recent past. Fearing all the possibilities, the police have reportedly informed their disability to provide to-the-mark security for the match. However, KKR is likely to plead to Kolkata Police, citing the fact that Ram Navami is usually not as big as other festivals in Bengal, especially Durga Puja. And that the match will start at 3 pm in the afternoon and will be wrapped up by 7:30 pm in the evening, both CAB and KKR have assured a hasle-free match. Meanwhile, Kolkata's Eden Garden has been assigned seven group league matches, including the opening one against RCB as a basic protocol for the home team winning the last IPL title. Apart from that, Eden will be hosting the second qualifier and the final of IPL 2025.
