Rajat Patidar has offered a blunt assessment of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) defeat against Punjab Kings, admitting that the batting unit could have done better during their rain-hit match on Friday. Speaking after the match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the RCB captain called the lack of partnerships and quick wickets a major concern. "Initially, it was sticking and two-paced, but we could have done far better as a batting unit. Partnerships are important; we have lost wickets in quick intervals, and that's a big lesson for us," Patidar said. RCB made a tactical change by dropping Devdutt Padikkal due to the conditions, but Patidar clarified that the pitch wasn't entirely to blame for their struggles. “The wicket wasn't that bad, it was under covers for a long time, and it helped their bowlers. Credit goes to them. No matter how the wicket plays, we need to bat well and get a winning total.” While the batting continued to falter, Patidar highlighted the performance of the bowlers as a big positive in what has otherwise been a tough campaign at home. “The bowling unit is doing pretty well; that's a big positive. The batters have played with intent; that's something pleasing. We can correct some of our mistakes in the batting unit.” RCB's home woes continue in IPL 2025 RCB’s loss to the Punjab Kings marked yet another disappointing result at home, extending their winless streak at the Chinnaswamy Stadium this season. So far, the team has played three matches at home and lost all of them. Notably, the team has won all four away games, which puts them in fourth place in the points table.
