Rajasthan Royals have strongly denied all claims regarding match-fixing allegations against the team, following a humiliating defeat against Lucknow Super Giants by 2 runs. RR have been enduring a difficult season in the IPL 2025, with only two wins in their first eight matches. The franchise is currently languishing at the eighth spot on the points table. The team's latest setback came in a close loss to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 36, where RR faltered despite needing just nine runs off the final over. This defeat has sparked accusations from Jaideep Bihani, the convener of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad hoc committee, who has suggested that match-fixing may have been involved. Rajasthan Royals have strongly denied these claims, calling Bihani's accusations “false, baseless, and without evidence.” Deep Roy, a senior official of the franchise, responded to the allegations by stating that such public statements are not only misleading but also harmful to the reputation of the team and the integrity of cricket itself. The Royals have also released an official statement, which said, "We reject all allegations made by the convener of the ad hoc committee. Such public statements are not only misleading but have caused serious damage to the reputation and credibility of Rajasthan Royals, Royal Multi Sport Private Limited (RMPL), the Rajasthan Sports Council, and the BCCI. They also tarnish the integrity of cricket." The Royals also filed complaints with the Chief Minister, Sports Minister, and Sports Secretary of Rajasthan, seeking strict action against Bihani, who also serves as an MLA for the BJP. Jaideep Bihani, the convener of the Rajasthan Cricket Association’s (RCA) ad hoc committee, expressed concern over the defeat and hinted at foul play. He questioned how Rajasthan lost on their home ground, especially when the match was within reach. In an interview with News18 Rajasthan, Bihani referenced the franchise’s controversial past, including the spot-fixing scandal of 2013 that had seen multiple players implicated. Additionally, the franchise owner, Raj Kundra, was involved in a betting scandal that led to the team’s two-season suspension in 2016 and 2017. Bihani, therefore, called for a full investigation into the matter and urged the BCCI to look into the loss with a critical eye. In the interview, he said, RR also took issue with Bihani’s claims about the Sports Council’s interference in IPL hosting. According to the franchise, they work closely with the Sports Council to ensure smooth operations at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, the venue for their home games. They rejected Bihani’s allegations that the ad-hoc committee was sidelined for trivial reasons.
