Rajasthan Royals has had a poor show throughout the 2025 IPL and is almost having a calculator mode on if they really want to qualify for the playoffs. There have been matches where the clock ticked towards their sides, but some mad decisions from the management cost them their wins. Amidst the trolls and criticisms in the social cricketer, former cricketer turned commentator Ambati Rayudu lashed out at Rajasthan's think tank. After RR lost to Lucknow Super Giants, when they had to score just 9 runs against Avesh Khan, Rayudu questioned how RR's motive is going to win matches. Rajasthan Royals have an affinity to back young players, be it Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, or Dhruv Jurel. They even brought in the 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who did not disappoint, though, in his debut match. However, Rayudu questioned if backing youngsters will actually give them a win. Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, he said, “They’ve invested so much in youngsters over the years. What have they gotten out of it? It’s been 17 years since they’ve won an IPL, and they always showcase this as if it’s their strength. It’s like some great charity they’re doing for the game, but it’s not. You’re here to compete." He added, “You’re here to win the IPL, and there are proven ways teams have adopted to win it—yet they don’t follow any of those. And then they want people to appreciate them as a good team just because they give youngsters from around the world a platform." Coming down the order, Dhruv does have a fair amount of contribution, even though not always. But for Riyan Parag? That man has been with the Rajasthan Royals since 2019 and has hardly been anything but a middle-order slogger. 2024 was a remarkable season for him indeed- scored 500+ runs having an average of 52. But the rest, Riyan's outing with the bat was nothing short of despicable, apart from a few innings. Even the management needs enough reasoning, at least for sending Riyan Parag in the super over against Delhi Capitals. Someone who managed 8 runs in 11 balls, was sent ahead of half-centurions Jaiswal and Nitish Rana, and Dhruv Jurel who was still in mojo! And against LSG, the team just got crushed. Shimron Hetmyer, who does have big shots, failed to hit and took two instead of getting Dhruv on strike. By the time, Shubham Dube came, Avesh rolled up his sleeves with the yorker!
