On March 21, both Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders had assembled for the last time for one proper practice session but had to leave early due to rain. The day's practice started at 5 pm and was supposed to continue till 8 at night. However, the drizzle interrupted at around 5:30 p.m. with most players walking inside the dugout. KKR players were the first to get inside, and then RCB staffs entered too, when the grounsmen dragged in the covers covering the entire field. Players from both teams left the stadium by 7 pm, an hour before the stipulated time. With this, tensions have further clouded in the fans' minds on if there is any possibility of the match at all. Presently, there is a possibility of heavy rains in different parts of South Bengal, which includes Howrah, Hoogly, South 24 Parganas, and Kolkata. Kolkata is currently undergoing an orange alert, expecting thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds from March 20 to March 22. Even though there is a possibility of 10% rain in the initial phase, it is expected to increase to 70% by the match ends. Eden Gardens, having one of the best drainage systems, might host a few overs later, with the possibility of the DLS method coming into play as well. However, if the rain overpowers, each team will get a point.
