Samit Dravid, the son of Rahul Dravid, has been handed a maiden call-up to the India under-19 team. He finds a place in the side that will take on Australia in three 50-over games and two four-day matches. The Indian under-19 team will host its Australian counterparts between September 21 and October 10. While the white-ball games will be played in Puducherry, the red-ball games will be held in Chennai. On Saturday, August 31, the BCCI's Junior Selection Committee announced both squads and Samit was right there. All-rounder Samit Dravid was in Bangalore lately playing the Maharaja T20 Trophy, representing Mysuru Warriors. Thus far he has scored 82 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 114. He hasn't bowled as yet. Mysuru has gone through to the semi-finals. Samit has been in fabulous form in recent domestic under-19 cricket. In the Cooch Behar Trophy-India's premier red-ball tournament for under-19 men's cricketers-Samit was part of Karnataka's victorious team that emerged champions. He garnered 362 runs and picked up 16 wickets in eight games, including a couple of wickets in the final against Mumbai.
