On Sunday, March 30, Rahul Dravid, the head coach of Rajasthan Royals (RR), checked the pitch from a wheelchair on his way to an IPL 2025 match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Barsapara Stadium, Guwahati. A few weeks ago, Dravid sustained an injury to his leg during a local match and now uses crutches and a wheelchair. The former India and RR captain is still devoted to his work, doing rehabilitation while staying with the team. Dravid came down to inspect the ground and check every nitty-gritty. Speaking recently about his knee injury, Rahul Dravid said in a press conference: “Recovering well. I got some great support. Just, unfortunately, at my age, playing cricket matches wasn't a great idea I think. But it's ok. It happens so it's fine.” Also Read | Tamim Iqbal expresses gratitude after recovering from heart attack Despite RR losing their first two matches in IPL 2025, Rahul Dravid backed Riyan Parag's leadership skills. “I think he's been very impressive. As a captain, it's nice for him to get this opportunity till Sanju is able to field again. And he's sharing his thoughts and his ideas. Very clear. He's very solid in that sense. I think he's adapted really well. It's not easy to captain when [SRH] is scoring 280 runs on a flat wicket. The first game is probably a tough game to be a captain. But I think the calmness that he showed and the fact that it didn't seem like our team was panicking was really good.” In leading the team, Parag has scores of 4 and 25 in the first two outings as well as no wickets. Sanju Samson will lead Rajasthan for their 4th match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Chandigarh on 5 April. Currently, the wicketkeeper-batter is playing only as a batter since he suffered a finger injury during the India vs England T20I series in February.
