Indian spinner Rahul Chahar has signed up with Surrey for their final County Championship game of the season against Hampshire at the Utilita Bowl this week. The club is pursuing a fourth consecutive title, and Chahar's signing comes at a vital time. Surrey Strengthen Spin Attack with Chahar 26-year-old Chahar was signed up with Surrey last month under ECB regulations but was not required for their home games against Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire. Surrey lost their latest game against Nottinghamshire by 20 runs, which has left Notts in the driving seat of the title competition going into the final round. Surrey are now 14 points behind Nottinghamshire and need to win their game while hoping Notts earn less than 11 points against Warwickshire at Trent Bridge. With Will Jacks and Cam Steel both out injured, Surrey lacked spinning options. According to Alec Stewart, Surrey's high-performance advisor: "Adding Rahul to the squad gives us another spin option at the Utilita Bowl. We always knew that we would be missing players for the final period of the season and try to plan accordingly given the potential surfaces and the opposition we're playing." Surrey had also made plans for Sai Kishore to return, but his finger injury and surgery kept him out.
