Having bowled Australia A out for 185 in the second innings, India A progressed steadily towards their target of 412 in the 2nd Unofficial Test at Lucknow. On the third day of the match, India A will still need 243 runs to win with eight wickets still in hand. Having lost four wickets cheaply towards the end of Day 2, Australia A rallied this morning. Nathan McSweeney and Josh Philippe put on a 90-run fifth-wicket partnership to save their team from a dangerous position. Philippe's innings was hit-and-stick as he had eight boundaries in his 48-ball 50 before being caught by Manav Suthar. Though there were no other valuable contributions from the remaining order of Australia A, a couple of batsmen managed to survive along with skipper McSweeney who scored fifty and remained stranded after his team was bowled out for 185 in the second session. Pursuing 412 for the win with more than four sessions remaining in the game, India's openers began on a good note. N Jagadeesan, especially, got through at a decent clip as India went to Tea at 39/0. The opening partnership was lost after Jagadeesan, who had slowed down by a lot after Tea, fell to Todd Murphy. KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan then played steadily in the last session and added a 65-run partnership before the former got hurt. Devdutt Padikkal was then removed cheaply at the stroke of Stumps leaving India on 169/2.
