Afghanistan and Bangladesh played the third and final ODI match of the series at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday. The match saw record-breaking innings from the young Afghani wicket-keeper batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz who not only smashed his 8th ODI ton but also led his team to victory in the match. Afghanistan after winning this match, clinched the three-match ODI series 2-1. Bangladesh’s openers Tanzid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar scored 19 and 24 runs respectively. Zakir Hasan added 4 runs to the team’s score, with captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz playing a respectable knock where he scored 66 runs in 119 deliveries. Azmatullah Omarzai emerged as Afghanistan’s highest wicket-taker in the first innings, scalping four wickets to his name. The veteran allrounder Mohammad Nabi and the leg spinner Rashid Khan took one wicket each as well. Rahmanullah Gurbaz who opened the innings for the Afghanistan team slammed a glorious 101-run knock, playing a crucial role in the hosts' series victory against Bangladesh. Despite the team crumbling at the other end, the batter stood tall at the crease and made a match-winning 4th wicket crucial partnership with Omarzai to win this match. Gurbaz scored his eighth ODI ton in which he smashed five fours and seven glorious sixes all over the Sharjah Stadium. After Gurbaz completed his eighth ODI hundred, he broke the major milestones set by Sachin Tendulkar, and Virat Kohli bringing up his eighth ODI ton at a younger age than the batting greats. Quinton de Kock from South Africa became the youngest player to reach eight ODI centuries, hitting the milestone at 22 years and 312 days old. In comparison, Sachin Tendulkar reached the milestone at 22 years and 357 days, while Virat Kohli and Babar Azam achieved this feat at 23 years 27 days and 23 years 280 days, respectively.
