Rachin Ravindra had a dream day at M Chinnaswamy Stadium as he scored his very first Test century against India on the third day of 1st Test. This resulted in the first hundred by a New Zealand player in Test cricket in 12 years in India. Wellington-born batter, who's from Bengaluru, looked completely comfortable and confident while reaching his second Test hundred. Ravindra created an important stand with Tim Southee as New Zealand extended their lead beyond 250 runs. India's bowling side didn't have an easy game against the Kiwis as they went on to concede the biggest first-innings lead in India since 2013. The last New Zealand batter to score a Test century in India was Ross Taylor, who scored 113 runs and that also in Bengaluru. Rachin played some exquisite shots and took on the top bowlers including Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. He took it to the three-figure mark with a boundary and ticked it off by removing his helmet to soak in the applause, more so as his family was there to watch him. He came in at the right time when his team needed him and took charge of the game. Good footwork and well-timed shots helped him achieve a brilliant hundred, and he became the 18th Kiwi player to score a century in India.
