On March 25, Punjab Kings is playing their first match in the 2025 Indian Premier League, when their opponent, the Gujarat Titans gave a life to Priyansh Arya, the young Delhi batter was batting on just 7! In the second over, Priyansh went high in the sky, and chasing the ball, Arshad came running from the mid off, while Rashid Khan was still on the mid on, went for the catch. When it looked like its Arshad's turn, the ball whirled to Rashid but bounced off his hand on the ground. The frame was a literal carbon copy of Pakistan's infamous catch drop by Sayeed Ajmal, while Shoaib Malik stood baffled in front of him. The incident happened in the 2017 Champions Trophy in the Dubai International Stadium. Later in an interview, Pak fast bowler, Mohammad Amir recalled a hilarious moment with Shoaib Malik about Saeed Ajmal's infamous dropped catch. During the Champions Trophy 2017 final, Amir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, and others laughed as Malik reenacted the catch. Malik admitted misjudging it, thinking Ajmal would grab it effortlessly. Later, he asked Ajmal why he missed it, and Ajmal humorously replied he was just preparing in case Malik dropped it. Relating both incidents, Punjab Kings posted the photo on their X account.
