Punjab Kings (PBKS) were expected to finalize Shreyas Iyer as their captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 which is going to begin soon, and the Punjab-based franchise made him their one of the players at a gigantic amount of INR 26.75 crores in IPL 2025 mega-auction, who also is a good right-handed batsman. The right-handed batter led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to win the IPL 2024 title, ending their 10-year wait. KKR CEO Venky Mysore said that the team wanted to retain Shreyas for the next season, but he decided to go to the auction to understand his market value. The 30-year-old is in line to be selected for India's ODI squad which will face England in a three-match series next month. He is expected to play at No. 4 in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.
