The Pakistan Super League (PSL) encounters major corruption allegations which emerge just before the 2026 season kickoff. Karachi Kings team director Haider Azhar revealed on a recent podcast that several franchises failed to disclose accurate player values during their retention activities. Azhar alleged that one franchise paid a player “under the table,” despite strict anti-corruption rules enforced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The Relukattay Show he made these explosive claims about the upcoming PSL 2026 tournament. The franchise approached a player with an initial contract proposal according to Azhar. The player rejected their initial offer, but the franchise later acquired him for $100,000 less than their first proposed contract. The remaining payment raised doubts because it seemed likely that the team had made an undocumented payment outside their established system. The existing franchise operates as a professional team because it has been active since before the current season started which introduced two new franchises. His comments have started a major discussion among Pakistan cricket supporters who are waiting for PSL 2026 to begin. The PCB allegations possess significant strength because the organization has declared that it established procedural frameworks which include strict anti-corruption regulations and financial monitoring systems to safeguard league operations from corruption. The PCB established complete authority over integrity operations after it terminated its anti-corruption partnership with the International Cricket Council during PSL 2025. The board replaced the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit with its own department to oversee all monitoring activities in the league. The 11th edition includes two additional teams and a renamed Multan Sultans franchise. The league this season will add two new teams which are Hyderabad Kingsmen and Sialkot Stallionz. PSL 2026 will launch its inaugural season after the league implemented an auction system for player acquisitions. The tournament according to its preliminary schedule will take place from March 26 until May 10 which coincides with IPL 2026 in India.
