The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 is set to encounter a major setback as many international players have decided to pull out of the tournament, leaving uncertainty about the presence of international players in the league. The PSL teams are experiencing problems in their international player selection process due to the confirmed withdrawal of international players. Harry Brook Pulls Out Harry Brook has become the latest overseas cricketer to opt out of the PSL 2026. Reports indicate that he followed the same path as the Australian star and the former South African skipper. “Harry Brook is not interested in the PSL and reportedly pulled out as well,” sources revealed on social media. Brook made his choice because of England's busy international schedule which required him to choose between work commitments and personal matters. Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell Withdraw The 2026 PSL season lost both Faf du Plessis from South Africa and Glenn Maxwell from Australia. “Faf du Plessis withdrew from the PSL citing personal reasons. Glenn Maxwell also took his name out of the PSL for personal reasons,” reports confirmed. Their absence has reduced the pool of high-profile international players, adding pressure on teams to find replacements. Wiese confirmed his departure from the team through social media after he joined the Qalandars in 2019 and won three PSL championships (2022, 2023, 2025). Wiese said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances and important family commitments, I will not be taking part in PSL 2026. I will continue to cheer for my Qalandars teammates and hope to return next year." Impact on PSL 2026 The PSL organizers decided to extend the overseas player registration period because the total number of player withdrawals had reached that level. With multiple franchise leagues happening globally, players are increasingly selective about commitments. The absence of Brook, du Plessis, Maxwell, and Wiese leaves franchises scrambling to adjust their plans while maintaining competitive squads for the 2026 season.
