The 25-year-old reached his century in 140 balls, taking a single off the first ball of the sixth over bowled by Mumbai’s new Ranji skipper Shardul Thakur. Opening the innings with Arshin Kulkarni, the pair contributed an enormous 305-run stand for the first wicket. Kulkarni, a left-handed batting all-rounder, scored a solid 186 off 140 deliveries before getting out to Shams Mulani in the 50th over. Arshin's effort to clear the boundary went directly to Musheer Khan, who took a sharp catch. By then, Shaw was on 116 runs off 159 balls and was giving indications that he was back in top form. In 58 first-class games, the right-hander has accumulated 4456 runs with the help of 13 centuries and 18 half-centuries. His best score was 379, made for Mumbai in the 2022–23 Ranji Trophy season, one of the highest individual scores in Indian domestic cricket. He made his debut in first-class cricket for Mumbai against Tamil Nadu at Rajkot in 2017, scoring 120 runs in the second innings. Shaw also played for India in five Test matches, in which he scored 134 runs on debut against the West Indies in 2018. He is still the youngest Indian to have scored a century on Test debut. A new beginning with Maharashtra Shaw's transfer to Maharashtra followed a difficult 2024–25 season during which he lost his position in the Mumbai team and was ignored by IPL teams, remaining unsold in the IPL 2025 auction. Resolute to revive his career, Shaw signed up with Maharashtra, a side that features Ruturaj Gaikwad and Jalaj Saxena. In this warm-up match, he proved that he still has the hunger to play. The coming season of Ranji Trophy 2025–26 might be important for Shaw if he wants to establish his form and consistency once more.
