A sessions court in Mumbai on Tuesday imposed a token fine of ₹100 on India cricketer Prithvi Shaw. The penalty came after he failed to file his response in a criminal revision petition lodged by social media influencer Sapna Gill. The case concerns Gill’s allegations of molestation against Shaw. Gill had approached the Dindoshi sessions court in April 2024, challenging an earlier order of the magistrate’s court. The magistrate had refused to register an FIR against Shaw and directed only a preliminary police enquiry. Since then, the sessions court has repeatedly sought Shaw’s reply. At the last hearing, the judge warned Shaw that he was being given one final chance. On Tuesday, no reply was filed again. The court observed, “Still, one more chance is granted for a cost of Rs 100,” and adjourned the matter to December 16. Gill’s lawyer, Advocate Ali Kaashif Khan, told the court, “This has been his regular way of handling the case despite being summoned many times.” Read also: Watch: Suryakumar Yadav Warns Pakistan Ahead of Asia Cup 2025 Clash Background and Current Status The case originates from a February 15, 2023, altercation at a Mumbai pub. Police accounts suggest Shaw refused repeated selfie requests from Gill’s friend, Shobit Thakur. A quarrel followed. Later, Thakur was attacked with a bat while Shaw escaped unharmed. Shaw’s friend Ashish Yadav was allegedly chased and threatened for money. Police registered a case against Thakur, Gill, and others. Gill was detained on February 17, 2023, and released on bail three days later. Gill, however, filed a counter-complaint, alleging Shaw and Yadav assaulted Thakur and that Shaw molested her when she intervened. Her request for FIR registration was dismissed at the magistrate level, leading to the current sessions court proceedings. With Shaw’s reply still pending, the case will now be heard on December 16, 2025.
