Maharashtra opener Prithvi Shaw has reportedly apologised to Musheer Khan following a verbal and physical confrontation during a warm-up match between Maharashtra and Mumbai at the MCA Stadium in Gahunje on Tuesday. The two cricketers, once part of the same domestic setup, engaged in a heated exchange after Shaw’s dismissal. Sources close to the teams later revealed that Shaw realized his mistake and reached out to Musheer after the game. As per The Times of India, a source confirmed, “Prithvi realised his mistake and approached Musheer and apologised to him. Prithvi told him, ‘I am like an elder brother to you.’” The report added that both players settled the matter amicably. The 25-year-old Shaw, once hailed as India’s next big batting star, moved to Maharashtra from Mumbai earlier this year for more playing opportunities. Musheer, 20, continues to be one of Mumbai’s most promising all-rounders. Interestingly, Shaw shares a long-standing bond with Musheer’s elder brother, Sarfaraz Khan, making the confrontation between the two even more unexpected. Shaw, who had scored a commanding 181 off 220 balls, lost his wicket to Musheer after top-edging a delivery to deep square leg. Soon after, he appeared visibly agitated. Videos from the ground showed Shaw swinging his bat in frustration and stepping toward Musheer before being restrained by teammates and umpires. Mumbai’s Siddhesh Lad was also seen confronting Shaw as the tension escalated. According to eyewitnesses, Musheer allegedly said something to Shaw after taking his wicket, which provoked the Maharashtra batter. The exchange quickly turned unpleasant, forcing intervention from both sides to prevent escalation. Mumbai captain Siddhesh Lad and Maharashtra skipper Ankit Bawne later clarified that such incidents often occur in competitive games. Bawne said, “It’s a practice match. They are all former teammates. Such things happen. It’s all okay now."
