Pratika Rawal has made history as she is the first Indian woman to score 1,000 runs in WODIs in the shortest time. She overtook the names of Smriti Mandhana to become the joint-fastest overall to reach the milestone in one-day internationals. Rawal achieved 1,000 runs when she had scored 15 against New Zealand Women in the ICC Women's World Cup 2025. The Indian opener has been low on runs during the current tournament, posting scores of 31, 37, 21, 7, and 5 in the glamour event till date. She now joins Lindsay Reeler, the former Australian batter, on the record of achieving the four-digit mark in 23 innings. Nicole Bolton and Meg Lanning are among others on this list who achieved the same mark in 25 innings each in the 50-over game. Since her emergence in 2024, Rawal has scored more than 1000 runs in 28 games, averaging nearly 50 in the One-Day format. She has also hit one century and seven half-centuries, making her one of Indian Women's most dependable and consistent openers. Her incredible consistency and capacity to hold an innings together have made her an indispensable piece in India's batting puzzle. She reached the milestone by making 78 off 91 balls against South Africa in the second game of a tri-national series in Sri Lanka, doing it within eight innings, one short of Edwards' nine. In the future, India can ensure a semifinal berth with a victory on Thursday, October 23, whereas New Zealand has to wait for the last round of league stages. A win over India, nonetheless, will be a big step in that direction. India Women will face off against Bangladesh Women on October 26 in their last group game, looking to carry on their campaign in the tournament.
