India's tour of England has been challenging, and it's been worse for fast bowler Prasidh Krishna. Following a dismal outing in Headingley, where he conceded 128 runs off 20 overs, the worst economy by an Indian bowler in a Test innings, things have only taken a turn for the worse for him at Edgbaston. In the second Test at Edgbaston, Prasidh bowled just 8 overs and conceded 61 runs, at an economy rate of 7.60. That is worse than his IPL 2025 economy of 8.27, which is normally considered costly for T20s, let alone Tests. His poorest moment was during the 32nd over of England's first innings, when Jamie Smith hit him for 23 runs on four boundaries and one six. Smith made 38 runs from just 19 balls off Prasidh. Prasidh's spell gave England a boost and helped them pick up momentum in a hurry despite an early fire by Mohammed Siraj. He has bowled 588 balls and leaked 518 runs, so his economy rate stands at 5.28. In the current Test series, his economy is 6.53, above every other bowler. The next worst is Shardul Thakur at 5.56, but Prasidh has bowled 27 more overs. The issue remained the same in both Tests, lack of control. He employed the short-ball ploy once more but most of his bouncers were chest-high rather than head-high and hence easy to play. He kept repeating the plan since it had succeeded against Harry Brook and Jamie Smith earlier. But this time around, it failed miserably. Prasidh finished his 5-over spell with 50 runs conceded, not what India can afford from its third pacer.
