Former India spinner Pragyan Ojha is being considered for a position in the Indian men’s selection committee, as per reports. If appointed, Ojha could replace Sridharan Sharath, the current representative from the South Zone. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has initiated the process by inviting applications for two posts in the men’s selection panel. The development follows confirmation that Ajit Agarkar, chairman of the committee, has accepted a contract extension until June 2026. The announcement comes days after Agarkar’s tenure was extended following India’s recent successes in major ICC events. Ojha, who represented India across formats, featured in 24 Tests, 18 ODIs, and six T20Is between 2009 and 2013. Known for his control and sharp turn on helpful surfaces, the left-arm spinner claimed 113 Test wickets, including seven five-wicket hauls. He also picked 21 ODI and 10 T20I wickets. At the franchise level, Ojha played for Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians in the IPL, recording 89 wickets in 92 matches at an economy rate of 7.36. He announced his retirement from international cricket in February 2020.
