The Proteas fast bowler Dale Steyn compares Jasprit Bumrah's absence from the India team for the second Test to a Portugal team without their main striker, Cristiano Ronaldo. India had an extensive period of eight days in between the first Test at leeds and the second one at Birmingham. However, having no sight of Bumrah in the second one has raised eyebrows, especially when India desperately needs to win the Test. The Indian team management, including the captain Shubman Gill, too, confirmed that Bumrah was available, but on the final day, it was Akash Deep, and not him. Akash Deep has a knack for leaking runs, and that has raised many more questions. Adding to the doubts, the former South African legend posted on his X handle expressing his shock and drew a basic comparison of Indian cricket with the Portugal team. On his X account, he wrote, "So Portugal have the best striker in the world in Ronaldo and they chose not to play him. That's madness. That’s like India having Bumrah and choosing not to play, umm, him… wait, oh, no, what! shit I’m confused." However, dropping the experienced ace pacer has naturally furrowed the eyebrows. Read also: Consecutive centuries for Shubman Gill in England! Shares stage with Bradman and Sobers Why was Jasprit Bumrah dropped? At the toss, Shubman Gill revealed that it was nothing serious with Jasprit Bumrah. He said that India wanted to ease with Bumrah's workload balance. Gill said, "Just to manage his workload. We did get a good break and this is an important match for us. But the third Test being at Lord's, we think there'll be more in that pitch so we'll use him there." Notably, Bumrah will play two more matches, as he had already played the first one at Leeds.
